Kamakaze Kleopatra
Back to the title, little Kleopatra has been in the habit of walking along the balcony wall, and jumping (about 2 feet, upwards, remember shes only tiny, about a foot long now without her tail) onto the bedroom window sill. No problems thought I, though I was slightly worried about it. She's a cat, if she was out in the wild she would be climbing trees, confronting cars, attacking dogs etc, so a little walk along the 4th floor balcony wont be a problem... till last night.
Its 5am, and I am awoken by the faint but repetitive cry that can only be Kleo. Thinking she is just messing around in the sitting room, I try my best to get back to sleep, and partially succeed. 5:30am comes around, and I stir once more, the repetitive meowing continues, but it's getting fainter, quieter somehow. Getting worried, I get out of bed, check her usual hiding places, in the bathroom behind the biday, or the toilet, hiding in the bath? Nope, Kitchen, beside the washing machine, or in the cupboard by the fridge, nope nope. Go into the living room, and it gets slightly louder, still, no sign of her anywhere. Then I notice the balcony door is slightly open on one side, and my heart started pounding. Rush onto the balcony, look over the side between the balcony and the window, knowing what she's like and sure enough, on the promenade between the buildings, looking up, there she's sat.
Mad rush, put on some clothes, run down the first floor, into the fire escape well (only way I know of accessing the promenade) and shes cowering in the corner where I saw her. I call her and she runs up, climbs up my leg, i pick her up, she nuzzles into my shoulder and starts purring... 4 floors is quite a way to fall... so now shes down to 8 lives...
The only saving grace for her I suppose, is that because she's still a kitten, her bones would be quite flexible still, which is probably why she hasnt broken anything.
*sigh* back to work :)
